Cases
2010/2011
High-End Telecom Systems (transport damage, > $12,000,000)
A number of high-end telecommunications systems sustained damages during transport to Australia. Each of the potentially damaged systems was inspected and tested extensively. A full Report was provided including an extensive analysis on the damages, testing and circumstances. Our Report was used extensively in the resolution and remediation of this case.
High-End Computing/Storage System (water ingress, >$1,500,000)
Damages to water-pipes resulted in a substantial ingress of water into a computer/IT area. Water entered an IBM z890 Mainframe, IBM 3493/B18 Virtual Tape Server and Hitachi Tagmastore USP. The extent of the damages was refuted. Our Report determined and evidenced the damages and the risk of returning the System to operations . Our report was instrumental in resolving the dispute in favor of the client.
Mobile Telephone Service & Repair Instrumentation (water ingress, >$250,000)
A mobile service & repair facility was flooded due to overflowing guttering. As a result numerous high-end test-instruments were damaged by water-ingress. The inspection and subsequent Report established that not all the claimed as damaged instruments were in fact damaged by water-ingress. The claim was revised according to our findings.
Air-Traffic Control Platforms (water ingress, ~$2M)
Severe storms led to substantial water-ingress into a sensitive area housing a range of mission-critical development and support platforms. Approximately 500 pieces of IT and ancillary equipment sustained water ingress and were potentially damaged. We assessed and categorised all items and inspected in detail a representative sample. Damages were assessed and traceability established and these representative results extrapolated to the overall claim. Our Report led to the claim being substantially adjusted.
Telecommunications Test Fleet (flooding, well over $10M)
A warehouse housing telecommunications and test equipment was flooded, resulting in thousands of individual pieces of equipment being affected or potentially affected. We performed a triage on approximately 2000 items and a detailed and individual inspection on approx. 700 items. A substantial portion of equipment was found without damages and the remainder assessed in view of replacement costs according to age of the instruments, usability and repair-ability.
We have further delivered a variety of small- to mid-scale assessments from servers and routers, over laser systems to high-end photo-processing.
